‘ Designing for a more efficient and connected workforce ‘

The initial question of Jumbo was ‘ how to create more connectivity between head office and stores employees’ ? The solution entailed a profound employee oriented strategy on how people actually connect when at work and during their daily activities. In order to understand this we used Design Thinking techniques and tools to empathise with our target group. During these first ‘sensing’ exercises we found that many process steps and applications used created much frustration and inefficiencies. Solving these as part of the total solution was eminent.

For Jumbo we created a future workplace concept that incorporated using mobiles devices and easy to use in store apps to complete rudimentary store tasks and daily activities. Also by integrating different types of content and realtime communication, we could reduce time spent by employees looking for information they needed to provide optimal customer service
